That's kind of what I was thinking of trying, using the hub socket on the seal side and thick piece of wood and a large washer on the hub side. threading a nut onto it and basically making a homemade press. Think that would work?

check out my "Overhaulin' my ram over the next couple weeks" thread, all my pics are there...its on this page...And i dropped it into the old gear oil so it was nice and slick, and i got it in even...did th slide hammer trick, and there was one section that was just barly all the way, and i used a screwdriver/hammer and tapped it into place....it was a pain getting the CAD shaft back into the carrier...but i gt it none the less.

Do you mean the intermediate axle shaft when you say CAD shaft? I left that in the carrier when I changed that seal.

I ended up using some all-thread, nuts, washers, and a pipe cap that had to be modified. FIRST TRY! I'm thinking of painting it and getting a patent. I'll post pics when i get a chance.

I spent less than $10 though. The cheapest one I've found was almost $100. I was kidding about the patent though. Just wanted to be like Purpl.

I also was wondering what type of fluid to run in the front axle. My rear has Valvoline 80w90, Is there a certain type anyone would recommend?
