So why does the pavementsucks article talk about a slide hammer instead of a threaded rod seal squeezer inner like the tool?

 

Good question, because that tool is way more accurate and less of a chance to damage the seal.

 

the threaded rod/washer trick doesnt do good for the seal...i ruined 1 like that, and the other two with a punch and hammer...the 4th seal got in lol....but $40 bucks (Technically) is what it cost for my pass. axle seal

 

Yea, with a home made NON precision tool.

 

when the seals decide to go again, im going to buy one of those tools, for my next vehicle will be a ram (Cummins though) and im sure ill have to do seals on that

 

I've been looking at some Cummins too. They aren't as cheap as I'd like them to be but maybe it's worth it. BTW no leaking! one shot=one kill
