Default same newbie question

ok this was in the 3rd gen section i clicked the wrong heading i guess.

i'm looking into buying a dodge truck i really like the styling of the 2rd gen. and have had many people tell me they run great into high milage. i'm looking for a daily driver that i know will get me there and just in case i can get parts for. I've found a 99 1500 with the v8 auto 4x4 and a 98 2500 with the v10 auto 4x4. both have about 140000 mi and are in good cosmetic condition.

basicly other than gas mileage which truck will be easier to own and service.

well depending on if you do alot of heavy hauling would depend on which you would need, plus the V8 would probably cost less in repair.. welcome to DF

the 99 will be easier to service price/difficulty wise, and in good running condition it will get 3-4 mpg more than the v10 (at the cost of less power).

but the v8 still keeps up with traffic with a bass boat right. i know it wont be like my 05 mustang but i don't like to worry about keeping up with traffic.

also does it hop going down the road. i had a f150 that would break your teeth on some roads, and do not want that again.

thanks for the info

Check into the Plenum, and tranny on the V8....and the v8 would probably be the best bet...is it the 5.2 or 5.9? and you wont have a problem hauling a bass boat.

My dad had a 96 2wd 1500 5.2L and hauled a 32 foot camper 4 hours north all the time without a problem

I like to refer to ourselves as "noobs" rather than "newbies". Noobs rhymes with ***** and I like those. Sorry, just felt like typing that...

Plenum will crate power loss, clogged CAT, foul 02 sensors, poor mpg's, oil consumption, and pinging unless it has the "Deathflash"

And it all depends if the 99 has been regularly serviced
