haha i like this quote from that ebay link. "" Special stuff is added to ABS plastic to prevent warping !"

thats scientific!!

am i the only one who gets furious when someone recommends putting carpet across the dash? "Hmm i want to improve the look of my truck...oh i know, ill just throw a nasty piece of carpet on my dash for all to see!!!" .

But yeah we are pretty much SOL. Just buy a cover or dash.

you cannot just paint a dash...I tried with my old camaro. i spraypainted some plastic..even ruffed it up with sandpaper after triple cleaning. It peeled like a ****. You need to add VARNISH to the paint so the paint does not peel. It gives it a shiny wet look and it will make the paint solid. Kinda like a quick flex additive.

Imagine the trashiness when someone sees your dash peeling. Go new or get a dash cover.

I think your best bet is to buy a new or used dash or to just live with it. That being said, when I had the dash out to replace the heater core, I layed down epoxy, duct tape, epoxy, duct tape on the underside of the dash where it has cracked. Made a fiberglass type fix that has held up so far, cracks have not progressed. But, inevitably, they will. Then I'll probably just live with it. I make decent money, but that piece of plastic ain't worth 300 bucks if the truck isn't worth 6 grand. My heart says it is, but my head says 'remember that 79 cj5 that you spent too much money on? Just drive that biotch'.
