You cant prevent future holes once it starts to crack.

Black Duct tape is your friend.

lol yeah i thought about that , but what im sayin though is the stuff im looking at is rubberized which im thinking if sprayed on the epoxied cracks, would first make it look cosmetically good, and second it would hold it together... maybe ill use some herculiner on it when i herculine the bottom half of my truck this spring

I doubt that any coating will prevent the dash from cracking. Probably make it crack some more over the weight of the coating.

i have the same problem....im 16 too...like u i was thinking in class and i had the idea of taking the entire dash out getting some thin sheet metal and cut the sheet metal to fit on the bottom side of the dash while using liquid nail or some equivilent to attach the metal to the dash then taking body filler to fill in the cracks on top then sand the dash itself and use a high quality plastic paint kit to repaint the dash to match

Well, after buying all that and finishing with your high quaility paint...You'd probly be able to buy this.

And there would be alot less work involved..

Don't take this the wrong way, but this happens a lot. A new guy, such as yourself, comes in and thinks he's got the answer to an age old problem, an answer that no one else has ever thought of. The problem is, this has been thought of before.

I remember someone attempting this exact same solution a while back. The problem is, once the dash starts to crack and develop holes, you can't remove it to put sheet metal down and then reinstall it. When you go to remove it, it will crumble like stale bread. If its that far gone, it will not come out in one solid piece. I've heard enough stories on here to know this.

So unless you want to put the sheet metal (or whatever) down and then glue the dash onto it like a crumbling bunch of puzzle pieces...

Save up the cash if you don't have it, and get a new dash. And not one from a stealership either. Get a good aftermarket unit that won't pull this crap on you again. Do it right the first time and never worry about it again.
