What valve is opened in "D" and not in "1" gear?
I have a stumble in 1st gear, but only when the truck is driven in "D" drive. When I manually shift to "1" first gear, it doesn't exist at all. I've been driving around all week like that.
Any suggestions?

ok, I'll look into how to check that. i was really hoping that it would be some sort of electronic valve or bad sensor that causes this problem. I did read in the service manual however that the rear clutch is engaged when the shifter is in 1, and not engaged in D. I don't know how that would effect things though.
For a fairly cheap fix, you could try replacing the speed sensor on the tailshaft. Or the TPS can be the culprit.(do a search here). This may help also https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ise-speed.html or not! Whatever! You really need to search around this site and you just might find the answer, good or bad.
It sounds like the overrunning clutch is turning. In 1st the low/reverse band holds and in breakaway low the overrunning clutch holds. The overrunning clutch is a mechanical one way clutch so if it is going bad the tranny will need a rebuild.

ok so i've spent hours and hours reading the entire A518 service manual, watching the video, and reading that one guys rebuild PDF. After learning all about the different clutches and problems associated with them, I feel confident that my problem is not inside the main unit or OD unit, but in the Valve Body. I was planning on changing the filter, fluid, and adjusting the bands this weekend, so now I also want to install Sonnax Sure Cure tranny reconditioning kit. I hope that will help, in addition to a new TPS.
I'm stoked about it!
