Default Any differences between a trans for a 318 and 360

Girlfriends truck has a 360 and I might have found a trans for a 318 so if its still available will it work and how can I tell what trans her truck has,I know what a 727 or a 904 is but the new ones got me confused.

From what I understand both engines have a 46re. I think it was the V10's and the deisels that came with different tranny's (47re 48re) Not 100% sure though.

Any 96 up 46RE will work. Make sure you get one for a 2wd, not 4wd.

This has been covered 10,000 times. Next time do a search.

Yes they are the same. Even the v8 2500's have the same tranny. From 95 to 01 they have a 46re. The 94's had the 46rh. To tell the difference in the rh and the re look at electrical plug, the re has 3 wires and the rh only has 2

If you found a 4x4 and you have a 2wd tranny, you could just use the barrel, everything but the transfer case and stick an OD tail shaft unit on there from another tranny. Just another option.

She has a 98 SS/T and I found someone parting a 97 sport,I presume its a 2wd since there was no mention of a transfer case and front differential. I also found someone parting a 97 4X4 with a fresh trans but they are wanting more for it then what I can get hers gone through so I hope I hear back on the 97 2wd.

The 94-97 have and extra Vehicle speed sensor in the OD tail shaft. The 98 and up don't. Just plug that back sensor and your good.
