My dad's boss tows his Bobcat on a trailer with his 2001 Silverado 2500 and no trailer brakes. He goes through pads and rotors every 30,000 miles. Thank god for AutoZone's llifetime warranty. Truck has 220,000 miles on it. True test of a truck.

lol max would crap his pants if he saw the trailers i pull in the summer, pretty much the same size trailer roughly 6 - 7k empty, 14k loaded with the bobcat and buckets.

These trucks are alot stronger than we give them credit for, granted it's rough on the brakes trying to stop it and as long as you dont drive like a bat outta hell and expect to stop on a dime, these trucks will pull 15 - 16k easily.

Now as far as not having a latch then yea i'd hope he wasnt driving down the road like that, but the chances of the tongue poping off the ball is slim to none cause theres alot of weight holding it down.

Exactly. Hook these trucks up to anything, and they will pull the **** out of it. YOu just gotta find a way to stop them.

Once you get use to driving a trailer around all day, everyday you get a feeling for braking distance and you'll do fine.

I've seen one incident where my boss wishes he didn't have trailer brakes. F350 quad cab dually pulling a 26 ft gooseneck with bobcat and equipment. Trailer brakes locked up and slid the trailer around on ice until the gooseneck pushed in his driver side cab. oops...

I don't care how well the truck pulls the trailer. If he's behind me I care about it stopping. If he just pulled it around in an empty lot for a "photo OP" to put on his facebook, that's one thing....even with an open hitch. But if he went onto the street.......that's off the scale stupid. In my State it's also illegal and expensive if you get caught.
