A bit for the 318 (5.2L V8), a bit more yet for the 360 (5.9L V8). Unless someone were to dino it, I doubt we'll ever know for sure.

It's significant from what people have posted when they fix their flash with a tuner. They are usually suprised how much better their truck runs.

Did someone say that the newer 360's come from the factory with the death flash?
I have an '02 but I can't find any sticker showing a different flash anywhere. Would a Superchips help if I don't have the death flash? I've noticed some sluggishness from time to time and sometimes if feels very peppy. I have already fixed the plenum and went with a fastman TB.

I know there where some from the factory in late '00 and '01. Not sure about '02. If your PCM doesn't have the sticker, then yours probably didn't get it. It wasn't all trucks that got it. I have yet to find out how they determined which would receive it off the factory. Perhaps it wasn't from the factory at all, it could have even been dealerships doing it once it got to their lots to be sold new. Maybe they had see a lot of issues in their region, so they where doing it preemptively. Or maybe Chrysler did a certain percentage to then track them and see how many of those came back with similar issues. Who knows.

Ya, the Superchips would still help you. People have posted their results of the Superchips, so do a search to get lots of info. That said, the SCT tuner is a much better tuner then Superchips though, just costs more but you get more. And I stand behind B&G as one of the best tunes you can get as well. I had a stock PCM, Hypertech tuned PCM, and a Mopar Performance PCM, and the custom flahs I got from B&G was leaps ahead of all of those as far as what it did for my truck.

any tuners out there for a 96 ram? I've checked with Superchips and Hypertech and they only have tuners for Rams beginning in 98.

well I know for a fact my truck is OBDII, but I'm sure thats not the reason why 96 & 97's dont have a tuner available. I'll bet our PCM's may not have been flashable. They might not have been using EEPROMs then. I dunno.

fyi, every vehicle sold in the US after Jan 1, 1996 was OBDII, and even some made in late 1995 was too.

yep 96 (like mine) was an early hybrid obdII sytem it utilized some of the older sensors and such left from the older setup...98 (some 97's) and newer were different...our tuner choices are limited but there are choices..

fyi, if your truck is a 96 model, then it's a full OBDII system. There was no early hybrid. They immediately made improvements on the system however to accommodate the new features that we're overlooked. Also, I'm quite familiar with ODBII, as I wrote microprocessor code for PCMs for several years.
