switchblade key

The reason it's pricy for programming German cars with the switchblade key is that not only are they programming the "fob" and cutting the key, most of them have a chip in the key for the security system.
I have it in my Audi (work car) A6's key and I know many newer vehicles have it too. I think my dad said it was something like $85 for a new key for my mom's Montero... Structurally as long as you are not hanging on the key you should be fine, however added weight in an ignition will eventually wear things out... Or at least that's what I've been told. Think about girls with huge keychains with tons of crap on it...
Anyway, the key looks cool!
