Default tranny wants go forward even in park

i traded my 1998 zr700 for this 1996 1500 shortbox. the tranny wants to go forward even in park there is no reverse. i was wondering if you guys think maybe the clutches in the o/d unit are froze up or not? i have another tranny that i bought a master kit for all the bands clutches steels and everything. i dont think that i am even going to mess with the tranny in the truck just r/b the one i have and switch them out. the guy said it was just r/b with a shift kit but you look at it its hacked and i was wondering why the drive shaft was in the back of the truck there is a 242 transfer case in it wtf was that out of? thats a full time grand cherokee case? fortunatly i have the 231 case. the trany and case are painted blue is this stock from dodge?

Welcomew to DF, and it sounds to me like you got a jig saw puzzle. i personally would just find a junkyard tranny from the same year model and drop it in that way you know you have what needs to be in there, as far as the transfercase goes if it's working then dont **** with it lol

The anwser to your question is, the two front and rear clutch packs in the front half of your transmission have welded together. Thats what causes the transmission wanting to go forward in park or revverse.
