can i use this oil ?

HDEO or just more commonly known as diesel oil (Rotella, Delvac, etc...) are great oils to be put in a gasoline motor. Think about all the abuse that the oil of a turbo diesel truck goes through? It sure as hell wont hurt your truck, I've seen your videos, you beat on it! (J/K ) I run Shell Rotella HD 30 and Shell Rotella T6 10W-30 in some lawnmower engines. They seem to like that over PCMO or regular oils.

I've been putting Chevron Delo 400 15-40 (correct me if i'm wrong on the name of it) in my engine since my first oil change. I even use the same exact stuff in my little four banger honda, not sure if it's good for it but I don't care about that car as much as i do my pickup. We use the same Chevron Delo 400 15-40 in our Tractors and semis on the farm too. I've had no troubles using it in my dodge.

In reality you would be better off with 10w 30 from the dollarstore...really the oil is the right thickness and performs ok it just doesnt have all the fancy additives to help protect the motor from wear. I dont believe most diesel oils have it either since diesels are low reving motors....and they have different contaminants in them when ran in a desiel engine so the additives may be different because of that fact as well.

That has got to be the most asshatted thing I have read from your posts in a long time.
Just because "Dodge says that's what to use" does not mean we actually should. If it were up to them, we wouldn't change our oils or do any other kind of maintenance service on these trucks. We would just wait for a problem to come up and then take it to the dealer.
I admit, I DO run 15-40 rotella just for the cost factor, but why not? I already pay for the oil to use in other diesels around the house. Hell, I even run it in our little husq lawnmower.
Tell ya what: You think what you want to think, and I'll think what I want to think, and if anyone wants to say a certain oil weight is better because a manufacturer says so, I'll be the first to step up to the plate and send oil samples in out of my truck which has been running 15-40 for almost three years now.

I agree with Auggie, the heavier engine oil will do you no justice for your performance. i also had an instance with a Ford work truck where they put 10w-30 in instead of 10W-20 and the rods bent. Ford wouldn't warrenty the truck cause it had the incorrect oil in it. From my understanding about oil is that certain aspects of engines are designed for a specific viscosity or weight, changing that may result in damage. IDK just my two cents

Both of you need to cool down. I'm gonna step in here before this gets out of hand.
Auggie: You actually were the one who insulted him first, calling him cheap, and the rest of your post was dripping with sarcasm. He is a moderator, and so he was a bit rougher with his reply than he should be, but please don't cry foul when you were the one who threw the first stone.
Laramie: You didn't help the situation replying the way you did. You have a right to defend yourself, but you could have attempted to diffuse the situation a little more.
Both of you, please end this now and be a little more civil.
