Yea theres a thread some where around here where they were debating it. Oil it oil man i'd say you would be fine but i think some of the guys in the thread were talking about it being too thick and blowing seals or some crap.

If you want thick just use 20w 50 of a bottle of lucas.... Why use oil thats not designed for a gasoline engine?? The thicker oil hurts performance in other areas...
Remember what happened to the other guy when he experimented with jet fuel in his ram??.... its not like its going to work any better than regular high mileage motor oil with additives to swell and lubricate failing valve seals and gaskets...

and oil is not oil!! the additive packages are important....different oils have different additives to meet different standards....most new oils are sae sm rated meaning its setup for obd2 emissions and cats...older oils had more heavy metals in them to lubricate flat tappet engines and prevent cam wear...thats why I use zddp in my kit cars oil... diesel oil may have some additive that may negatively effect something like the cat as it burns (if you have a cat)

I've used 20w50 in my 87 D 100 318 since it was new. The only seal I had go bad was the pinion seal.
I've known quiet a few that have used diesel motor oil with good results.

Been using Mobil Delvac 1 ( the diesel truck stuff) in my ram for the last 2 years with no issues. Been using the Delvac 1 because of the great price I have been getting it from work due to my discount. Will be switching to Amsoil my preferred brand at my next oil change since a friend of mine is now a dealer and selling it to me at near cost.

Never heard of too thick a oil blowing seals. I used to run 20w-50 in a 2.8L v6 Ford Ranger years ago with no issues. The truck lived until 248k miles on the stuff.

There are tons of people out there that use straight 50 weight in their motors with no ill effects. I mean, hell, I've been using 15-40 for almost three years now.
