Shoot, doingf heads on these motors is not that difficult realy, couple things you maight want to do is make sure you have a place were the parts you take off won't be disturbed while your waiting for the heads to get done. Get 2 pieces of cardboard and when you take the pushrods out stick them thru the cardboard in the order they come out, and figure on checking/replacein the plenum plate/gasket while you have the intake off anyway if it has'nt been done already.
Save yourself some grief and buy a Haynes or Mitchels manual so you can have it right there to read as you do it. And start a new post here when you start for questions you'll have. Good luck.

Another thing that will make life easier is a good penetrating fluid. Try to find one of the following: CRC Knock'er Loose, Cyclo Breakaway, AeroKroil (made by Kano Labs), CRC Freezeoff.
When removing rusty bolts, some times they will feel like they're getting tight as you back them out, that is the rust packing in the threads and when it packs in there enough then you will end up with a broken bolt. If you get binding then give the bolt another shot of penetrating fluid and run it back in, then out to the binding point, then in again and repeat until it comes all the way out. Broken bolts suck.

Hello you all this is my first post and i was the other that was riding with her when this happen. I can safely say that the head gasket is blown or the head is cracked. This truck did have multiple problems in the beginning. The fuel pump needed to be replace but like i told her that this is only one problem to many. Also on the last part of the trip we had to hit the over drive button since the last gear was really sluggish and would not hold speed up a hill. I would think the engine needs a rebuild, the tranny needs to be gone through again and the the diff was leaking oil for good know how long. It also might need to be gone through. I think this is her third tranny and as one of you said the trannies i guess do not hold up as well since low engine miles can be found. If you have any questions please ask and thanks again for the assistants.

Here is a Video of the exhaust as you can see the water and white sweet smoke pouring out of it.

Hello, well I just did a compression test on her. What a pain those driver side rear plugs are to get to!
Anyway, spark plugs 1,2,3,4,5,7,8 all read between low 90-135 with three compression strokes.
Checked semi warm, not at temp. Plugs were normal, brownish gray. The 6th though, had water on it, and read 210, 300, then pegged. So, this looks like a blown gasket.

So next plan of action is to take off everything and passenger side head, and replace the gasket.

if you're ok with the truck being down that long man i would go ahead and do both sides since you have everything broken apart anyways. Cause trust me speaking from experience you will kick your self in the *** if you dont and the otherside blows 10k miles from now.

Well, let me ask everyone, do you think its feasible to change the passanger side head gasket and still get 40,000 miles out of it?
