DO NOT USE PLUMBERS tape- that is Teflon. It will make it ten times as easy to come off as it will act as a lubricant. It will also prevent the threads from fully engaging / mating thus allowing / causing the lug to "POP" off under side loading conditions.

Get a die and run it over the studs. Clean the threads up, throw the old lugs out and buy new ones. It will hold torque after that.

I would also not use any T-locker on those. The pitch on the threads is too fine and all it's going to do is gum up and cause more issues than your having now.

Simply run a die over the threads ONCE- do not repeat cut. Use Dextron III as a cutting fluid on steel.

Once you've recut them, use IPA (isopropyl alcohol) and clean the threads. Put the new lugs on and you should be all set to fly. Get some lugs that are bottom tapped- this means the threads run all the way through to the bottom using a flat bottom tap. It will allow the lug to engage better with the stud threads vs a partial / v tap-thread lug.

Ah, I was working on some black box program for the DoD back east for a few months and had to come back out here due to some family issues. My lady had a heart attack, my Dad was put in a nursing home and is slowly dying and I've got a health issue that I am dealing with as well.

Haven't read through the thread, but lugs are dirt cheap and not too much of a job to install.
I just put on a couple new ones after I had to hack off a seized nut to get the tire off to change a bearing.

I've had that problem with loosened lugs, starts off where you can just feel a little irregularity in the wheel, and in a few miles it feels like something is about to fall off, maybe the tire !
Quite a relief to find out its just lose nuts.
They sometimes work themselves out for no apparent reason, so I have taken to just checking the torque every other week or so.

Same thing happen to me a few years ago in my step-dads truck. I was humming down the road doing 60MPH the truck started to make this noise and acting funky. So I pulled over and the drivers side rear wheel was almost off the truck, No lugs or nothing. Had to replace the lugs and studs.

Stuck my head out the window and looked down and BAM my freakin driverside tire is negitive like a sob, so ofcourse i pulled over and got out and come to find out my lug nuts are freaking finger tight and about to fall off. WHAT THE HELL! some one apartently loosend my lug nuts. So i got out jacked the truck up and tightend them down, well go about a mile down the road and it did it again... Guess what the lugs are freaking ate to **** and i barely have any thread left for the nuts to bite on.

So i guess im going to be replacing the driverside sooner than i'd like because im not going to waste my time putting new lugs on when i need to replace the hub anyways.

AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to top it off my fuel pump is shot, i cant barely reach 60 if im below a half a tank, free way is basicly out of the question and you damn near have to get on the freeway here to go anywhere.

So im going to the junkyard whenever the hell i find the money to get the pump and the hub is just going to have to wait at this point in my life i couldn give two ****s if the tire falls off or not, i'll just keep tightening it everyday IF it keeps coming loose.

Sorry for the book but i need to vent, does any one else think this country is ****ed up beyond all repair ? the economy is done... im moving to ****ing canada.

Why hasn't anyone told him to PARK THAT TRUCK UNTIL IT IS FIXED? All anyone will say is make sure he's alone?!?!?!?! Does he own the road? What about everyone else on the road with him? Ever seen a wheel fall off at 40 mph? They dont stop until they hit something! 2 years ago a semi truck tire "fell" off a truck on a local freeway here. Tire bounced 20+ feet in the air bouncing over the median divider, landing on the roof of a doctors car. crushing him!
Park the truck until you can get it fixed.
