coolant smell but cant find.
i smell coolant around the front or my truck but i cant find where it can come from. My coolant it slowly working its way out. Some one out there have a answer.
Have you checked your oil? Nothing to do with you smelling coolant but could be a cause of you losing coolant. Cracked head or blown gasket. Do you smell it in your exhaust at all, or through your air vents when the heat is on?
Nothing on the ground eh? or no residue on surrounding area of rad?

its likely leaking onto a hot surface and evaporating. run it up to temp, and then shut it down and wait about 5 minutes. the heat and pressure will build up a little and you might be able to find it. the most likely place is around the water pump shaft seal. look for the tell-tale drip at the bottom. if that doesn't work, just wait about another month or two and it'll probably slowly get worse. if you're in a rush, you could try an air pressure test.
well i just got from taking a look at it. I have looked at the oil, it is still clean and not milky. so then i started it and let it run for about ten mins. then look for the signs or water. but i did not see water or water spots. the only thing i can see is the thermostat is its not clean but its hard to see down there
????? well my timing chain cover just started leaking at the very bottom a day ago

coolant overflow tank.
Check the fluid level:
Park the truck up a hill (front of truck UP, not DOWN).
THen open rad cap (wait until cool)
Check fluid...add until full
run engine with the cap off and allow system to burp out the air while adding new coolant.
Ussually takes about 5-10 mins to burp the whole system. Reason for the incline is that dodge installed the heater core ABOVE the position of the radiator. So you need a hill to compensate for that.
