Frame. 1500 v 2500
My ol' man's last plow truck (exact same truck as mine, just silver) was the best plow truck I have ever used. He had a 7 1/2' straight blade on the front and a Daniels back blade as well. What a machine. The thing was short and nibble (these trucks turn on a dime, especially short box regular cabs), and would whip in and out of drives that longer trucks (like his new quad cab hemi) have to do 3 point turns in. He really misses it bad for that aspect, but he doesn't miss all the repair bills.
He sold the whole truck for 5 grand with 160k miles, with both blades on it (the plows alone were much more than that).
The problem though, was I had to put axle joints and ball joints in the front every year, and wheel bearings almost every other year. He had the trans and transfer case rebuilt twice, and I'm not sure how many track bars I put on it.
But, what a plow truck. The only thing better would be to get a regular cab 3/4 ton and cut the rear down into a short box. Then you would have the best of both worlds... stout and short.
OK, books over. Sorry about robbing the 5 minutes of your life with this nonsense.
