Default Replacing timing chain

This weekend i'm going to be replacing the plenum. I have read that replacing the timing chain would be a good idea too, and hopefully i will be able to figure out exactly what is causing me to leak so much coolant. The front of my block/hoses/steering/axle are all soaked in coolant from a leak i can't pin point. Is there a write up with pictures, or that is very descriptive about replacing the timing chain? If so, could someone post a link? I've been searching for a few hours and still came up with nothing that clarifies things for me.

welcome to df. fill out your signature so people know what kind of truck you got.

if your water pump is older that 5 years, its likely the cause of your leak. if not that, then it could be the timing cover water tunnels, or the o-ring on the heater pipe of the water pump (drivers side), or the t-stat housing.

if you're going to strip the top of the motor and do the plenum, you might as well go all in and strip the front and do the water pump, timing chain, and front seal too since you'll already be halfway there. you'll need a harmonic balance remover which you can rent if you don't have one.

I believe there was a good write up at pavementsucks.com in their tech section.

I edited my sig, thanks for the reminder! I have already replaced the water pump, t-stat, all hoses and gaskets for the pump/t-stat. I'll re-check everything to see if the pump is whats leaking, but i highly doubt it. Does anyone have a link to the list of DIY things for 2nd gens? I came across it once but now i have no idea where it is.
