Yes, you do not use any RTV on the metal compression gasket.

Use a propane torch,(bottle on no flame of course) or carb cleaner, and spray around intake and vac lines, to find vac line leaks or leaks in general , the leak will suck in the carb cleaner or propane and cause the engine to rev and you found your vac leak, make sure to be careful and use common sense, doesnt always work either, prob better to do on a cold motor

do you still have your air cleaner gasket there?

Is everything torqued to spec? After i did my plenum i re-torqued my intake a week or 2 later.

ok update on plenum repair. I took everything back off the truck and took plenum plate off. I think it was leaking again. There was some oil inside the plenum. I had it cleaned spotless. Is there a reason I cant use sealer on the plenum plate???? and oh another question. do I have to use the seals on the intake ends or can i use sealer there also?? They dont seam to seal very well to me

I don't know about the Hughes kit, but the one I got from APS almost 2 years ago has an added sheet explaining that there was a change from the Mfr. that they now require a small amount of sealant on both sides of the metal gasket for the plate to ensure a proper seal.

Another thought, in the original instructions it indicates to torque the bolts for the plate in 3 separate stages working up to the final torque amount. Supposedly this ensures the best seal from the sealant.

(I highly recommend using "The Right Stuff" if you don't want to wait for "Ultimate Black" to set up properly. It was the first time I had used it and it worked great!)

Also, make sure you seal the other 2 rubber gaskets at the front and rear of the intake! I believe I have read several times where others have omitted the rubber gaskets and just used sealant in those locations and it works just fine. I chose to use mine, but I made sure I had sealant on top and bottom of them as well as plenty where the heads meet the block. I just finished mine this past weekend and it turned out great. I hate to hear you had to tear back into yours...
