Truck did throw a check engine light, hooked reader to it says link error. Think I am going to wire around the alarm to see it the alarm is the issue.

no bus is either a bad ground or a shorted out sensor, (or a bad pcm)

there's grounds on the PS bracket (that group got me one time). probably also some on engine heads and/or block. more on body at drivers left foot panel.

someone posted to unplug all sensors to see if the no bus condition would go away, then add them back one at a time. tps, iac, cam pos, crank pos.

transmission in/out can knock out the crank position sensor. i'd look extra careful on that one.

sorry, power steering (ps) bracket.

i don't know what happens with bad or shorted crank position sensor. with switch off, try unplugging it to see if you get a different result. someone recently did a plenum repair and pinched the crank wire under the intake manifold and i think? it wouldn't crank at all. i'll look for the thread.

pinched cam position, not crank position.

Any way of testing these sensors? Just looked at the crank postion sensor and it is about 50 bucks not bad, but dont want to put 50 here, there. This truck is my money pit already, but she is great when she runs. I spent half of today working on it, will spend tomorrow looking at it too. Thanks for the help.

I just had all kinds of issues with NAPA crank sensor.
Buy OEM and have it done with.
For the 15.00 less i paid for the NAPA sensor was not worth haveing to do it twice!! They did refund my money.
It has been state on here several times when it comes to Crank and Cam sensors use OEM only, and save your self the headache.
This is where I got mine http://www.moparonlineparts.com/ with shipping they were cheaper then my local Dodge dealer.
Call them up 877-227-0429 give them your vin number and they can look up with the exact part number you need for your vehicle.
Then you just search by that part number on there web site.
I have used them several times and very happy with service.

not that i know of without a very expensive scan tool.
there's no real evidence yet that its one of these expensive sensors.
i don't know that i would blindly change yet.

can you unplug crank and cam sensors one at a time to see if you get a change in the no bus condition, and perhaps a new CEL to indicate failure of that specific sensor. also inspect wiring for that sensor.

was there anything that happened that changed it from good to bad?
anything new? any changes? car wash? maintenance? tune up? etc?

nope nothing to spark something, picked the truck up sat from shop then drove it sunday on and off today hit my remote start and truck wouldnt turn over. Jumped it right off and that didnt work so then got my meter and started looking for something. What I dont get is why the scan tool OBD II wont link. That is making me think pcm?? Could bad sensor cause it not to link. If I could just get it to link, I think I would have an answer.
