Default weird jerking when slightly accelerating

hey there, have an 01 1500 4x4 5.9L auto...
here lately, when slowing accelerating (almost idleing) from a dead stop...and also if slowly accelerating on the x-way....the truck will lunge/jerk a few times unless i give it more gas. Almost reminds me a driving a manual transmission and being in too high of a gear...
i've read through all 23 pages of this post and didn't see anything. I apologize if this was covered elsewhere on here.

I'm not getting any DTC codes (from using the key trick, my actutron scanner or the scanner at 2 mechanic shops - except for the occasional codes for the evap system)

i'm hoping this is nothing serious..
new plugs/wires/air filter/oil filter and oil

thanks for any insight

I've got this problem, most evident when in a gentle rise on the highway in overdrive with the cruise on. I was just about to ask about it because I'm going to take the thing in for fluid/filter and band adjustment (as it's nearing 100k miles now). Whether or not it's the transmission acting up I don't know, as there have been a couple of times when it acted like a plugged cat (backfiring, stumbling, no power).

There was no flare of the engine when this was happening. Shortly after that I had the CEL come on. I continued to drive on the interstate for another 10 Miles. When I exited and came to a stop I started and it would not shift out of 1st. I pulled into my drive way and read the CEL codes. I had an o2 code, Multiply cylinder misfire codes, and 2 transmission codes. The 2 transmission codes are P1740 and P1756. If I did my research correctly they are (TCC Or OD Solenoid Performance) and (Governor Pressure Not Equal To Target At 15-20 PSI). I let the truck sit until the next weekend to fix the engines problems so I could get an accurate read on the Transmission problems. I finished fixing all of the motor problems and cleared the CEL. After I finished that I proceed to check the usual things for the Transmission. Checked Trans Oil for color, smell, and particles...OK. Checked oil level in Neutral after it was up to temp...Ok. Checked the Shifter linkage...OK. Checked the Throttle Linkage...OK. Adjusted the Front Band...OK. Test drove the truck and when it was cool it would shift through all the gears at a higher RPM than I though it should. After the Transmission was up to temperature it would not shift out of 1st. The CEL has not come on again. So my question is: Could this be the pressure solenoid from your post? https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ng-issues.html
And also the TCC and OD Solenoids? Is there something else I should check?

Thanks in advance for the info
Possible. But first i would start with grounds. Clean and check them.

hmm, drop the pan and check the bottom. Do a fluid and filter change and adjust the bands while you are in there. Could be a converter on its way out.

Thanks for the info. I will check those when I get home this weekend.
Are you talking about the K4 18 BK/LB ground or the battery ground?
I will check both of those but just wanted to clarify.

A Haynes manual also tells you how to adjust the bands, and the torque specs for each. If you don't have one, I'd recommend picking one up pronto. You can find them at most auto stores for less than $30.

MonteC, a friend of mine was telling me about one of his friends cars last night. I can't remember what type of car it was but he said that it had a 454 in it and I believe a 700r4 transmission and was running 7 second quarter miles.

When the guy got the transmission built to handle the motor, he told the guy that he wanted extremely firm shifts so the transmission guy put "one ball in it". That was my friends words, I don't know the first thing about chebby transmissions.

Anyway, my friend told me that when he gets on it and that transmission shifts it will leave a 2-3 foot skid mark. Pretty crazy huh?

All of them, check chassis grounds, the ground to the back of the engine. You would be surprised what components are tied into what ground.

Not sure what the one ball is referring too. But most of these domestic rwd transmissions can be built to handle some pretty extreme abuse. Crazy guys in dark basements coming up with new parts for these slushboxes.
