MonteC's Transmission Corner (For Info Only)
Hey monte im back again, this time my truck.
My 94 has been shifting later from 3rd to 4th, it wont shift into 4th untill it hits around 3400. It shifts smooth so im not too too worried about it but i still dont like it getting that high before it does shift, my fluid is fine and it's got a newish filter. It only does it in 3rd every other gear shifts as it always has around 2k, any ideas man ?

Thanks for the responses. Luckily, I don't have to fix mine immediately. I'm working on my Porsche 914 currently. I hope to have that on the road in the next week, then move on to the truck. I don't have any experience with an auto transmission, but I know my way around the toolbox and shop manual pretty well to figure things out! tango-52 let me know how you're work goes. I really don't know what level of transmission knowlege is required to work on a band strut or reverse servo, or even troubleshoot.

I dropped the pan. There were a lot of fine shavings on the pan magnet and a piece of a snap ring. I tried adjusting the rear band, but didn't have the right socket. An 11/32" 12-point almost worked, but would slip before my torque qrench clicked at 72 in-lb. I backed it off two turns and tightened the lock nut up. I also changed the OD solenoid assembly, then put on the new deeper pan and added ten quarts. Still no reverse. Next I will get the right socket and try again. Otherwise, it's $2k for a new transmission. I only paid $2500 for the whole truck! And I feel your pain on the 914. I have three. Two run and one is for parts.
