Default Emissions problem using 1.7rr w/ /95 5.9L?

It's got less than 5k mi on a Jasper remanufactured install. The mechanic put the Hughes plenum kit in during install. Other than that the truck is stock as far as I know besides the mopar performance computer and the 3" catback. I do plan to soon add a 3" in/out cat with custom pre cat y pipe soon. (but that shouldn't really make a diff in emissions I thnkk?) and perhaps do my own porting of the throttle body. It runs pretty good but could use a hair more power especially when laden with slide in camper.

My question is will I still be able to pass King County Wa St, emmissions with the 1.7:1 ratio rockers. Keep in mind my '95 has the non adaptable early version of the computer/feul injection which I've heard isn't very tolerant to this type of monkeying (the 1.7's instead of 1.6's) at all. I'm just wondering if this is just a small enough bump toward the dark side as per my '95's finicky computers requirements are concerned that a strong runner, which had the 1.7rr's installed, could stilll squeak past the emissions sniffer...I don't doubt it would give a nice kick in the pants but I gotta watch my emissoins since the greenies really keep their foot on us truck owners necks round these parts.

i dont know how it is in your state but in maine and Mass, emissions dont apply to OBD1 vehicles. (95 and under)

I honestly dont know how the 1.7's could do anything to emissions

Considering I had to have a whole new engine put in just so I could pass last year makes me think they care here.

Haven't had my truck through emissions yet with them but they shouldn't adversly affect the emisisons. What were your numbers from last time? If they're pretty low you've got a lot of leeway, I wouldn't worry about it.

they only open the valve open the gas/air mix is the same

i see no problem with passing emissions testing

I had remarkable amounts of leeway on my last emissions. Flying colors comes to mind.

The reason I thought rockers affect emmissions is I was originally planning to add a KRC cam. The guy at KRC told me I can't do a cam and pass emmissions without a reprogramming of the computer to dial it in specifically for the cam. Since it is my understansing changing rocker ratio is much like adding a mild performance cam then based on what the KRC guy told me I figured my computer would also technically require a reprogram to be optimal with the 1.7's. My hope is that it may still be close enough to stock with the 1.7's due to it being a somewhat mild tweak that I can still pass emissions albeit even if not as optimally as if I had it properly dialed with a reprogram. IOW I want may cake and to eat it too.

I think you'll be fine. A clean O2 will keep the A/f ratio in check.

As mentioned earlier, the rockers only affect total lift. A cam can change many more aspects than just lift which is why a tune can be necessary.

I think you will be ok too.
Those RR have such a minimal affect on engine performance that I can't see any effect on emissions. I wasted alot of time and money installing those things. My truck doesn't drive or idle or sound any different compared to stock.

My post will prompt alot of guys to follow saying they do help and are worth the time and money.

I do hope they work for you.
