Some tranny problems and cruise control

I've had my 98 since new. Talked to the dealer about adjusting the bands and letting them change fluid and filter at 30k miles and they looked at me like I was crazy. Said they never adjusted bands unless it wasn't shifting right. Same story when I talked to the dealer in the next closest city. I changed it myself, didn't adjust bands, ever. Changed it every 30k, had to have trans rebuilt at 130k. Has 140k now. I wonder if adjusting the bands would have prolonged trans life any? Sorry, kinda rambled and hijacked the thread...

Not a chance. They charged me a couple of hundred dollars for a brake issue prior to the tranny going out. Whatever they did, it didn't work. I changed the master cylinder and fixed the problem myself. They refused to give me my money back, I got mad, they threatened to call the cops...anyway, I don't let dealers do maintenance on my vehicles anymore. They charge more than the regular shops, but the quality of work is no better, if its as good, in my opinion. Local shop did trans. Guy is supposed to be pretty good. Me and my truck are hoping he is..
