Other than contacting dodge, how do I tell? The sticker in the glove box just say it's a 4 speed auto. It's an 01 1500 with the 5.2L V8, 2 wheel drive.

I have a 98 with the 5.9 is it the same transmission and i am taking this truck apart to rebuild the trans, is it true a shift kit will stop it from burning up all the time and if so where should i shop for a shift kit and rebuild kit.

No that is false. A good rebuild will make the trans not burn up all the time. A shift kit will help improve shift feel and give it more durability. But there is no shift kit in the world that can fix a bad rebuild.

When did 96.5 start? According to my build sheet my 1996 ram was built on October 31, 1995 and has the 46re transmission. This was verified when I replaced transmission last November, the governor is electronically controlled.
