Default Bad harmonic Balancer Question

what can be the result of a bad harmonic balancer? Mines got ALOT of wobble, and its making the belt go back and forth on the WP pulley...I will be changing it out soon, but what can they do if they "brake"? Also could this cause anything to run differently? will i notice a difference with a new HB?

If it comes apart it can cause the crank to wobble and destroy your bearings.

I would think that it would eventually lead to the crank bearings getting thrown out due to too much vibration if left long enough.
Since you are replacing it then you ought to think about changing that front crank seal because it is worn to match the old balancer.

the seal is behind the balancer and you can pop it out and put a new one in with just removing the balancer. A new crank seal comes with the timing cover gasket set so you should wait until you do that. Just look at the back of the balancer where it goes into the timing cover for oil after you replace it and you'll know if you need to go ahead and change it or if it can wait.

If it's bad then pulling the balancer out will make it start leaking for sure.
Since you are doing the timing chain in a couple weeks then it will probably be fine.
