my disappointment
It's a truck, not made for max. top speed. Like JamesNB said. "you will start breaking things" and my guess with your inexperience with racing, it wont be cheap. Not trying to be an a$$ but it's true.
105+ on the streets???
You might want to think about what your doing before you kill someone or yourself out there. That is insane and very dangerous to you and others.. It doesn't matter whether or not there is anyone around you. Something can fail on your truck and flip you over before you even knew what happened.
This is a truck, not a high performance race car. They are not built the same. What do you think would happended if you snapped a U joint at that speed? What if a tire blew out at that speed? You really need to think about these things before you go out there and endanger yours or someone elses life.
If you must do that, go to a race track and prove yourself there.
As for your race.... I would say you won. Let it go at that and don't do that again. I would hate to read that you got hurt and needed prayers because you got in a critical accident. Just my fatherly advice.

Challenge him to a real 1/4 mile race to settle the issue. Just don't get hustled--he may have been sand bagging you.
If you start racing a lot, you'll start breaking things and it'll get real expensive in a hurry, even more so than trying to add this and that to make it a little faster.

best idea i've heard so far, and thanks guys, i've been sitting at home kicking myself for not staying ahead of him the whole time, i pride myself on having one of the fastest vehicles at my school, so it was a pretty big blow when he passed me.
and some of you guys make a good point that its a truck, i shouldnt race it or things like that. i wanted a fast older car that i could street race and legally race in, but when i saw my truck, i knew i had to buy it, and i still want to go fast, its not a truck thing, i know. i have headers on it, no clue what kind, or what kind of exhaust or tranny. i know i have a chip in it, a k&n air filter, and thats about all i know, i will be adding pictures, most likely tomorrow, i'll take some shots of the engine, maybe you guys will know what i got under there? maybe throw out some advice on how to add a bit of speed? thanks guys, being one of three guys at my school with a dodge sucks, especially since one has an older model and its lifted, and the other has a stock newer model, i have literally nobody to talk to about this
Yea yea yea, it's a truck... Not made for speed....
If it's what the guy want's to do, then let him. I'm probably the only nut job on this forum that has plans to make an RCLB truck into a street truck....
Keep the Street/Track dispute civil. That is all I ask. Yes, track is safer, but we have ALL been in some case where there was some a$$hat in the lane next to us wanting to play a little. It happens to me daily.

I'm not saying don't race it (but maybe I should). Just be aware if you spin a bearing or wrap yourself around a tree, it's going to blow your budget.
One of my best friends' father had a 1969 Chevy truck that he bought new. He was a professional mechanic and drag raced a '57 Chevy. He had put a lot of work into the truck engine, hot cam, racing transmission, ect. It was fast; I was going 130 mph and he (my friend's dad) passed me like I was going the other way. And it was strong, it could pull a house. It was a lot of truck. For some reason still unknown to me to this day, my friend's dad sold it sometime in the 90s. A high school kid bought it and two weeks later wrapped it around a tree. The insurance company paid off the note and the kid was left with nothing but his heath.
My point is be careful and use good judgement. If you have a 318 or even a 360, it sounds like you can beat this clown in a quarter mile. But even if you can't, it doesn't mean you suck or anything. Unless you do something stupid or unless the guy was sandbagging you and you do somthing really stupid like race for money or titles.
Maybe you should ask yourself why it's so important that you beat him.
I just think it is funny when guys with a truck talk about racing.
BTW, i owned a 1986 IROC. Here is what I invested:
Trick Flow twisted Wedge heads
1.6 intake and 1.52 exh comp pro magnum roller rockers
Comp hardened pushrods
Scorpion intake
Holley street avenger carb
280 duration comp camshaft
pete jackson timing gears
Edelbrock headers
MSD billet distributor
MSD 6AL box with blaster 2 coil
GR2 shocks and struts
Subframe connectors
Edelbrock STB
Wo, after I installed everything, I wore a camshaft lobe down to NOTHING and I blew the rearend.
Lesson learned:
You build em, you play them hard, you break them, you fix them. However, I opted out of the FIX part with the camaro and just cut my losses. Hence why my 3rd vehicle i have ever owned is 98% stock.
BTW, I really want to build another IROC

Also, I doubt that you have the fastest car at your school. Especially since you have zero knowledge of engines and components.
Take a pic of your PCM and I will tell you if you have a "chip" in it. if you really had a chip, then the 115 fuel cutoff would not function.
I am not trying to be an ***, but read some damn books and be able to back up what you are talking. Headers and a chip are mild mods...at best.
Remember, this is a forum where most everyone here knows what they are talking about and are not HS kids who are trying to brag.
(man am I an ***). But maybe this guy will actually get his hands dirty and do a real mod.
