Long crank times...
Hello Everyone, I'm the FNG... Nice to meet you all.
I did some searching for similar problems on the site but didn't find anything very helpful. When i try to start my dodge, I need to crank on it for 5 secs for it to start. This happens weather it is hot or cold. However when i shut it off i have a few minutes when it will start right away. Also if i crank it for a second and release then it will start fine if i crank it a second time. Is the a fuel pump issue? I thought it might be IAC so i cleaned the soot off the valve. The throttle body is still covered though. I'm also just about certain i have a blown Plenum, but I didn't see anything about this being associated with the plenum. What do you all think?

Sounds like the common problem with these fuel pumps. There's a valve on the pump that prevents fuel pressure from bleeding off when the truck isn't running. That valve goes bad, and allows the fuel pressure to bleed off. To be sure it's the pump, go out and cycle the fuel pump a few times by turning the key back and forth between ACC and off before cranking the motor. If it fires right away when you crank the motor over, than you need a new pump.

I find at times and just started recently when I go out and attempt to start the truck it will crank a few times before starting and then other times it starts fine.
Would this be the same problem as loosing pressure in fuel line as you guys have found or could it be something else. I have a 2006 dodge Mega cab by the way.
