no bus ?????????
not disagreeing, but a couple of .02 worth...
the no bus is probably an incompatibility problem between the wrong sensors and custom wiring. it may or may not have anything to do with the no start.
spinning the starter and running are 2 different things. spinning the starter does require a couple of actions/non-actions from the computer. it has to check the neutral safety switch. to run - it has to have an agreeable signal from the ASD system and/or not activate the ASD, plus 12 volt power has to get to the coil, fuel pump, and the injectors have to fire properly with some interaction from crank/cam position sensors.

i put the intake of the 01 on the 96 motor. and the starter has two wires, a constant 12v wire and a small wire that when the key is in the start position it tells the starter to turn, u can hit that wire to the + side of the batt. and over ride the key. thats the only way i can turn the motor over.
I assume it cranked over fine before the swap, or I would agree with yakkier, however, it is possible the tranny linkage got knocked out of whack or out of position and it's no longer in park.
ok just crawled under the truck and the linkage got knocked lose and the tranny was in gear so i got that straitened up and then it started to rain so idk if it fixed all my problems but i still dont think im getting fire to the plugs
