permanently locking CAD
I'm having alignement problems with the two shafts on my CAD. I am thinking about just sliding the collar over and permanently locking the CAD in place. I'm thinking with an open diff this should be okay? has anybody tried this with success? i know it will probably turn the front driveshaft too but when the t-case is in 2wd t should be fine right?
bearings and/or seals are shot, the two half-shafts are not lining up, causing the collar to bind and not lock in. I dont really drive the truck much or for long distances so thats not a huge worry. if i'm not mistaken the 2002 3/4 and 1 tons did not have a CAD correct? so this would basically be the same thing?
if a bearing is worn out it turning all the time is only gonna make it worse. I still don't see how your axle shaft and intermediate shafts aren't lining up? But if the truck isn't your main source of transportation I don't see it being a problem.

You still have to remove the outer axle or at least slide it out a small amount to replace the smaller bushing only. Installing the larger bearing requires removal of outer and intermediate shafts. Which is not much more than doing a ujoint or seal for that matter, and both parts install easily with no special tools required.
