i've not had to do this job yet, so no personal experience. lets play 20 questions.

how do you pluck the inner shaft out?
do you just grab the end and slide it out, or do you have to release it in some way?
does it have to come all the way out, or at least past the cad opening ?
does the big bushing just pry out of a seat and tap back in, sort of like a seal ?

yes,yes and yes. And actually a seal is more of a pita. Also the shaft does not have to be released in any way.

I also learned the hard way, like with plenum gasket replacement.

I'm about to replace those bushings today, what all do I have to take apart to get to the shafts?

Fawk replacing all those parts. Just delete the entire assembly. http://www.emsoffroad.com/store/inde...aa98896edd1310

Sure, your shaft will spin all the time, but that will not cause any issues unless there already is some. And you will not use a LOT more gas... maybe like a half mile per gallon more, but with a Dodge that isn't much of a big deal.

And yes, Dodge "deleted" the CAD in the 2002 2nd gen (3/4 ton) and all the 3rd gen 3/4 tons. They knew the setup was junk.

I thought I'd be able to get the bushing anywhere, but apparently not. I haven't tried the stealership, but I tried O'Reillys/CSK, Autozone, NAPA, Pep Boys. I know I can order it from quad4x4, I should have last weekend. So, basically I haven't gotten the parts yet, so I haven't done it yet. It should be pretty straightforward, I just don't really know how to go about pulling the hub off, or where that bigger bushing goes.

The CAD delete is interesting, anyone on here done it?

Although, I would like 2low like with the cable locking setup.

You'll have to do a write up, with pics. I would rather make one than buy one.
