loosing oil pressure

Default loosing oil pressure

im loosing oil pressure in my truck when i start it up it jumps to between 60-70 but when i drive it, it drops down to 10psi. its not the sensor because i was using a gauge i ran up through the hood to see if that was it. so if its not that what could it be im changing the pump tomorrow to see if thats it

I would say you are going the right direction there. But the only question I have is, are you referring to a direct pressure gauge or another electronic one you put in.

i'm guessing oil pump. check the pickup screen and pipe carefully, and don't forget to prime it. if your rear main is leaking, they'll never be a better time to fix it.

i used a direct pressure gauge. but now i cant put the pan back on because i found 3 holes in it

If the truck runs up to 30+ PSI at 3k rpm then it is is just fine. Curb idle is about 7psi minimum and they are supposed to be at 30-80 PSI at 3k RPM. If it is within that range don't bother with it.

i pulled the old motor yesterday and today i took the intake and valve covers off and there was anti-freeze right under my intake. On my intake what is that pan on the bottom of it for

thats the PLENUM.....



it may be because of a bad intake gasket, and the coolant passage is able to seap into the galley.

when you remove the intake, its normal for coolant to leak out into the lifter valley.
