My friend said it helped his transmission hang on a little bit longer so i wanted to try it.Hopefully it'll last long enough till i can save enough to buy a transmission.

you can - Turn the OD switch off or change the gearing of the truck

ya i was thinking 410:1 gears, i know about the heat thing, and it hurts the fuel mileage up here, always searching for the right rpms, up hill, and down hill, and back up, not major hills, just enough to get anoying, and drive is alittle low for my 70mph on the interstate, i do have to fix the intake still so im hoping that will help alot, then a computer tune to straighten out the air fuel mix, and then the gears, bye bye problems, i hope

Are you talkin about the two wires that go to the transmission about halfway back?

I must be thinking of a different setup, but I found a site that might help, https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ckup-46re.html

Lock up is almost unnoticeable. At moderate throttle the truck will shift 1-2-3-lockup-4. When you press the o/d cancellation button the transmission will shift 1-2-3-lockup.

DONT DISABLE LOCKUP, it will cause problems. If you dont like the transmission hunting for gears then just hit the o/d cancellation button, it makes around town driving much more enjoyable.

I don't know if this mod is good or bad.
But in an effort to help protect some problems I see I drew up a schematic based on the link below.
It should keep the trans from staying locked up when coming to a stop.
I think the reason the diesel guys use it is to let the engine slow the truck down kind of like a manual transmission.
I believe someone else said that earlier in the post.

If you use that setup and get one of these -
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-830450/

You can put the module in to protect a lot of the concerns about killing the motor when coming to a stop.

Something like this -

I am not responsible for any misinformation from this schematic.
Use at your own risk!
I have not tried this but this whole post has got me thinking about trying it to see if it works.
Just to see if it is a viable option.

Edit:

Estimated Parts cost

$50 RPM Activated Switch

$8.5 275-218 relay http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2049722
