Default Torque Convertor lockup switch?

I've got a 1999 1500 4wd Auto transmission. One of my friends wired a switch on his 03 48re that locks the convertor up when he flips the switch and I was wandering if some has a wiring diagram or knows if this can be done to my truck.

why would you want to turn it on with a switch, the truck decides the best time to turn it on, and it only changes by a couple hundred RPM at most, if you dont let off the gas when you turn it on, it makes the truck buck really hard for a second and if you forget to turn it off when you come to a light, the truck will stall. all you need is a wire powered on with the ignition that goes to a switch that goes to the plug on the trans, you have a 2 wire plug, one is for the overdrive and the other is for the lockup, but i'm not sure which is which, I have a single wire on a 3 speed, my repair manual doesn't give the color codes for those two wires.

It could be done on a 46RE by grounding the Orange/Black wire on the transmission 8 pin connector...

i want to get rid of my converter lock-up. i hate that thing, all it does it cut the power in half and hurts my gas mileage. It comes on too soon and instead of kicking off, it waits until it needs to shift down (where unlocking and giving back the 400-800 rpms would do the trick), im calling different shops looking for someone that can possible reprogram the computer or maybe just disconnecting the thing, not sure yet

just behind the shifting linkage on the trans on the left side - you'll see the harness come down from the engine compartment - it's a round 8 pin connector - above and rearward of the neutral / backup switch

Getting rid of it will cause more problems than it will solve. The idea being, that when you truck is in overdrive, NOT locking the converter will build up excessive heat. Heat is the number one enemy of your trans. Eliminate the locking converter, and look forward to rebuilding your trans in the not so distant future.

And the locking converter is supposed to HELP gas mileage, not hurt it. I would look for other causes for the problems you are seeing.
