Default Bilstein 5100's review so far.

Just thought i'd give a quick update on those 5100's I installed. They are pretty stiff shock IMO. Probally got close to a month on em now, have you ever been in a older truck say 70's model that has that Hollow metal sound of the cab when you slam the door or hit bumps , First time i've ever had this sound with my truck since after I installed these shocks when i hit the bumps hard. Havent got them tottaly offroad yet, but will and post again in here on them, just thought i'd share.

LOL@Buzzed I'M not to sure yet, they are just a really stiff shock, doesnt ride like a caddy more like a tank, you can feel every little bump and gaps in the roads/freeways,going across railroadtracks, but remember i had 100,000 miles on trailmaster ssv's and they were shot, do they suck? i dunno i gotta get em offroad and hammer on em to see. so I guess i'm saying is, if you want your truck to float on clouds like a caddy, i wouldnt reccommend these. ( thats not what i was looking for anyways) keep in mind these are REALLY STIFF SHOCKS!

What condition are your control arm bushings in?

I'm curious if you got the standard 5100 series or the adjustable leveling shocks.
Also, how high is your tire pressure?

Standard 5100's.....My control arm bushings are shot to hell from what i've noticed, and i run max psi in my tires, from getting 40,000+ miles out of my bfg mt and even wear @ 50psi, so i figured if the bfg's lasted that long why not do it agaian, i see where you all are getting , all info opinions of what im doing wrong is appreciated , also i got the tow pckg, or HD springs in the rear, so stiff offroad springs in the front, and 5 leafs and the overload for the rear and stiff *** shocks, sounds about right ? Mybe try a diff tire pressue?, I'm still waiting to get adjustable control arms from topgunz..

i have the 5100's as well had about 2 years now, yes the run a lil rough, but its a truck not a caddy. i like em, handle great offroad, improved stopping. my old shocks were shot i was bouncing everywhere! not anymore, and even with 30k miles on the bilsteins still run great.

i run about 50psi in my bfg AT and ahve an AAL, pretty sure my contyrol arms bushings are shot as well ahve new ones in the garage just no press...

Good to hear about these shocks, I was gonna ask what people were running. My shocks are shot, I bounce all over the place. Going to lift/level my truck a few inches and do new shocks at the same time.
