you can swap any engine as long as they are the same displacement. Just make sure you use the newer intake. The 1996 has the divider.

Other than that, it is nothing different.

just by looking at them, sell the chevy. But you will have far less problems.

I used to be a bowtie guy (Camaro) but i bought a 1996 dodge because 1997 Silverados were too expensive at the time (2003). Ever since my 1996, i have been a dodge guy. Mainly because I know these trucks. Once you get to know them, they are just like that bitchy girl you date. She is a bitch half the time, and nice 20% of the time. The other 30% she just ignores you. But you still love her and don't want anything else. Unless a great deal on a cummins comes around.

just make sure every sensor is connected. Then you will be fine. The only thing you might need to do isget a different crank position sensor, and cam position sensor for YOUR YEAR of truck. They have different connector tips for different years.

I know...I had to replace my wiring harness when i had a fire under my hood. long story, no fault of the truck.

Or you can just splice so the connectors fit. But make sure that you have all connectors connected, and there will not be a problem. If you have any problems, just snap a quick pic and post here or PM me. I can help with the underhood wiring.
