Default my 408 makeover-upgrade

well this is a long strory but to make it short I have had problems with the electroics on my truck ever since I got my 408 built. The truck will just shut off while driving, and come back on sometimes. I replace the crank sensor and it fixed it for a couple of weeks. then removed the remote start, fixed for a couple of weeks. then had an electrical diagnostic shop look at it and found nothing wrong with the grounds or sensors. Took it to the dealer and they had it for a week and found nothing wrong but replaced the ignition switch and some wiring to it under recall. fixed for a couple of weeks, replaced the pcm which fixed it for a couple of weeks. replaced the crank sensor again with a mopar one, fixed for a couple of weeks. and now it is dying again. F electronics..Now it looks like my fuel pump regulator ***. might be going bad this time. and my injectors are under sized. (600) for all that.

The plan

put a carb on

new distributor

coil

mopar ignition

46rh tailsection

Wire it to my ignition switch like our muscle cars. will need to re work the vacume cruise controll. work out the thorottle cable. and some misc. stuff. but enough is enough. I cant get my truck tuned without an o2 gauge which is 500$ and I am tired of this electronic -asd- bull! Turing this motor back to a 60's-70's motor.

replacing the fuel pump now with a stocker just to get by. saving and making my list of parts. and sorting out the details. will post more as I go!

Do you know what part of the equation you are losing when it dies? Spark? Fuel?

What about the battery, I have heard of some weird stuff when a battery in one of these trucks loses a cell

It is a brand new battery. Not to say that It could not be bad tho. And it dies every couple of weeks. And it will die more and more over the corse of a day or so untill it is soo frequent that I cant even drive home.

The only good thing is after this crank sensor change it dies sometimes but it also hangs at a low rpm. And combined with a couple of fuel pressure readings that were bouncing I hope this problem is different.

Changing the fuel pump and regulator today along with the altonator.

IF it dies more frequently throughout the day, it is more than like a heat soak issue. Some part gets hot, and fails. Unlikely to be fuel related, much more likely to be a sensor involved in the ignition side of the equation.

Have you looked at the cam sensor?

Is your new crank sensor an OEM or is it aftermarket, say a Napa sensor?
The reason I ask is I replaced my crank senor in November last year
After I pinched the wires for it in between the bellhouseing and tranny when I replaced the tranny, I used a Napa sensor.
I had all kinds of dieing issues after that.
Finally replaced it with an OEM and problem is gone.
For crank and cam sensors I will only use OEM from now on.
This is where i got mine http://www.moparonlineparts.com/
prices are good and very satisfied with service.
I have used them several times.
