Welcome to DF.

Pretty obvious question, but gotta get it out of the way... have you checked the tranny fluid? It has to be running in neutral to check it, can't be in park. A tranny that is low on fluid will do what you describe. What fluid did you use?

Ticking could be loose torque converter bolt hitting the back of the block, double check them.
i tried to run it in neutral as other posts suggested still having problem
What problem are you haveing, will it not go in to neutral?

ok so i removed the check valve from the trans line and blew out the cooler it goes into reverse still shifting slightly funny through the gears. to answer the questions i did use atf-4. A guy i know who has been building transmissions for 30 years built it and i trust his work. ....... I will definitely check the bolts on the flywheel again (thanks xjarhead69)
Now my problem is the trans is shifting a little funny holding on too long before shifting and such and i still have that ticking/possible scraping noise which i will check flywheel bolts as i said above in the morning i think i almost have this under control now just looking for hints to get me all the way there

Check the TV cable adjustment.

On a side note.... Given that the trans is controlled by the pcm, and the pcm gets an input from the TPS, why does it even NEED a TV cable? Was that little bit of programming just to much for them?? I don't want to hear 'redundancy' either, if they had been that concerned, there would have been some flavor of backup power for the fuel pump, in the event of a relay failure.

Oh well. Probably one of those questions that will never have an answer.
