My buddy has a 97 dodge ram 1500 4x4. It came with tow package and LSD. What would have been a standard gear for that year with tow package? We looked in the glove box and it is not there. Looked on the rearend itself and cannot tell.

 

Best bet is to send an email off to chrysler, and get the build sheet for the truck.

Other alternative, is to pull the rear diff cover, and on the ring gear somewhere, it will list the number of teeth on the Ring and Pinion gears, divide the larger number by the smaller number to get your ratio.

 

either 3.92 or 3.55 it could go either way..

 

I used to think that factory tow automatically meant 3.92s. My '98 was, but I have found that is not always the case. So yep, best bet is to get the build sheet...

 

Is the under hood tag still readable, should tell you the gears and that its a LSD
