Default At the shop

So for the past 5 months I have been fearing the day that my transmission goes out on me which has yet to come but as we all know a new problem like always has arose! I been hearing a lot of noise out of my rear end and finally to much noise to feel safe driving, I had the truck towed to the shop I work at and ripped into it to find the drivers side carrier bearing broke apart and has been wearing A LOT!!! As most of you know the carrier bearings should be pressed on so tight that in order to get em off you usually have to break the bearing apart and cut the inner sleeve,...well the bearing has about a 1/4" of play and fell off when I pulled the diff out. this completely explains the slipping sensation I have been feeling that I thought was the transmission hopefully I can slap a new front pump seal on the trans and it'll be good to go but if not I can rebuild it with a coworkers who is the shop builder as long as I foot the bill for beer and parts!. Back to the rear end, Any how, the truck sits on jacks and tomorrow morning I order the new parts I am ordering a Auburn 4.56 limited slip diff along with a master rebuild kit and new wheel bearings. after I get the rear end built for now I am going to have to pull the front drive shaft out until I can afford the 4.56 air locker up front. I run 35" tires and at some point will be goin up to 38's will the 4.56's be sufficient for the 35's? I hope to just about return the truck to stock specs with this set up. on a calculator I got 4.6 for a gear ratio with 35's so I reckon 4.56 is just about perfect!.

Please correct me if I'm wrong!!

Shawn.

Made the plunge this morning, all the parts I need to rebuild the rear end are on their way minus the wheel bearings and wheel bearing seals. I am also using the same axles as they are in good shape other then that I have everything else on its way!. Hope all goes well, at $845 I can't afford for it not to!

Next up is a ARB 4.56 air locker up front and a rebuild kit for my transmission!

Shawn.

I sure as hell aint!, love my truck the Dart needed alot of work, needed a full rear end as the 8.25 in it was to tall of a ratio, all the front suspension and steering rebuilt, body panels it had lots of dents, the roof had a lot of rust under the vinyl top and the list goes on!! all it had goin for it was a new engine, new trans, new interior and new tires, my truck has new heads, new tires, a lift, paint job, gonna gut the interior and put int vinyl seats and rhino line it so it can be sprayed out as well it runs great, and the woman out here love it its a hell of a head turner. EVERYBODY has something to say or a question about it, men, woman and children. Love seein the kids just stare in amazement! plus with a little work this ram would eat that dart for breakfast in the 1/4 mile!

Try taking a dart with a 268 cam and 2.5" exhaust with edelbrock SDT mufflers hunting lol

I'm looking to do all the same stuff to my ram that you did to yours as well as push it out to 0.030, upsize the cam a bit and have the heads ported and polished.
