Default Was thinking about buying this dodge ram, what do you guys think??

http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=0&n...iew&ad=2499704

Has 156000 Miles
1994 1500
manual
V6

Went and looked at it, starts up fine, but has a little problem getting warmed up, guy said it was the fuel pump. It was also in an accident on the right fender area which is obvious in the pictures, any chance of frame damage there?? Anything else I should be worried about? Seem like a good deal? I could probably even talk him down to 800. The engine ran and sounded fine once it got going, cept I popped the hood and it smelled like gas for some reason, no idea why that would be? Interior is kinda beat but so was the case for ever dodge ram Ive looked at haha.

Edit: His wife probably wrote the add, since it does say front wheel drive etc., he was hispanic and didnt speak english hardly, he worked for a paving crew, but since has mostly been out of work this year, as compared to last.

Erm. Front Wheel Drive???? I think someone missed a trick there.....

What do you want to do with it? How mechanically inclined are you? Can you do your own repairs/maintenance?

Very mechanically inclined. Just for a daily driver, haul some things here and there. Dont really need a V8, wouldn't mind if it were a automatic lol.

haha yah thats exactly what I thought, but i dont know where to get a dodge ram then, that list you looked through if you search all the dodge rams, is through out basically the whole state. One person even had their ram for 800 more than blue book. I told him id pay him blue book value and he sent me a funny email back about how the truck was worth more etc blah blah, everything was still stock on it etc lol. Its really all i can find. I MIGHT be able to get the one linked to 700 but I doubt it.

So aside from that I would have to be looking out of state to get a dodge ram. I want a dodge mainly just cause I love the trucks and most of them you can put ALOT of miles on. Tough trucks too.

The gas smell is a concern..... Really need to find out what that's all about. Having it burn down on your way home would suck......

Have you driven it? If so, how was it? Steering tight? Brakes work good? Pedal feels firm, and doesn't jump around when the brakes are applied?

What do the fluids look like? oil, coolant, brake fluid.....

Is this going to be your primary vehicle? If so...... I would be sure and have a backup....

Ya the gas smell was a concern for me too, I just started it up, cause I was tired at looking at vehicles by then and didnt think I was gonna buy it anyways. But now its kinda like its all that there is haha. Everything else is way over priced. What might cause the engine to be smelling like gas?? if it breaks down shouldnt be a big deal, the engine itself seemed tough.

Yah I have checked it, craigslist isnt as popular here cause everyone in the state just uses the site that I linked. Maybe ill just wait it out and talk him down lower.

I had one dodge, 1994 that I looked at and only had 125000 miles on it, interior was all cleaned up but had a funny noise from the engine, that would fade out almost completely when you would rev it up, id just pull on the throttle and listen, figured it was a lifter that went out. But the weird thing was that the miles per hour gauge was stuck at 25 miles per hour even when the truck was off, and the guy said it was pulled out etc for fixing some dash stuff "must not have been wired back up properly" he said, but i thought maybe he has tampered with the mileage, would rolling back the odometer alter the miles per hour gauge?? Just a curiosity question, still not going to buy it. I run in to some pretty shady people when looking at cars.
