Default temp sensor help

I recently put in a newer 5.9 in my 1995 ram 2500. After switching over many of the old parts to the new motor I noticed that the newer motor has only 1 temp sensor. it only had the 2 wire sensor and no spot for the single wire sensor that goes to the gauge.Does anybody how the gauge works in the newer trucks? I tried swapping it out but it put the check engine light on and it ran a little rough. swapped it back light off and the truck runs good but the the gauge doesnt work.

You can swap intakes. Or, drill and tap the current intake for the other sensor. Or, just install an aftermarket temp gauge, with a sensor the screws in someplace else. I don't think you can just tap into the other sensor to get a signal for the gauge.....

If I remember correctly from reading on this forum newer rams are wired to use the same sensor for both the computer and the gauges.
Hopefully someone with a little more knowledge will chime in.
You may have to swap intakes.

Just swap the intake. That is the easiest thing to do, and the intake is the only thing that has changed on these motors over the years they have been around. Too bad you didn't notice that when both engines were out.
