Question Axle swap

im putting a dana 70 out of a 96 ram 2500 into my 99 1500, would i have to get the driveshaft shortined i mean i can force it to fit but i am just uneased at doin that cause the shaft wont have any play in it...and the Ujoint is just swimmin in the yoke...i had the idea of switchin the yokes between the chrysler 9.25 inch axle and the dana 70 but since they are different splines thats a no go so i have no idea what to do...well i have ideas just lookin for some opinions or see if anyone else has done this

If there is a spicer dealer in your town then they can hook you up with a combo U-joint that will be the sizes you need. The drive shaft i would have shortend. You want to have a little bit of slip in the shaft. Also autozone or oriellys auto parts can help you out on the U-joint. You just need to take them the shaft and yoke and they can find on in the catalog. I did this for a while untill i just got a new driveshaft made.

Lift it a little and it will work out for you. I have a D70 rear and a D60 front in my 1500, you can see pics on the "Got Flex" thread. Prolly not wantong the lift I have but it will stretch it out some.

If you have one made then just tell the guy making them what the set up is and he can put the right end on. Plus if they make drive shafts then the probly have the right u joints to. haha. If your from Cali. a good drive shaft guy out there is High Angle Driveline. I have done business with them and so has friends on mine and they make great products.
