I highlighted the other two items you should attend to while doing the water pump.

where do you recommend getting timing chain from? mopar? hughes? cloyes?

what about the water pump? im a little nervous about the timing chain but water pump shouldnt be too bad

also had my ujoints replaced last year at a napa car center. they stated that ball joints will need to be replaced soon. i lifted truck up and moved the tire looking for any movement and there wasnt any. so my question is, did i get lucky? are the ujoints a PIA to replace when compared to the ball joints? i've also heard about the brand MOOG for those. are they better than MOPAR or just a better price but similar quality?

sorry for jacking thread, just curious and trying to learn as much as i can.thx

Moog for suspension components. Mopar performance (from summitracing) or Cloyes for the timing chain/gears, double roller is preferred on the forum. Water pump brand doesn't really matter I don't think.
U-joints are easy, especially on a southern truck.

Hmmm, i never heard of a plenum (besides on this forum) nor do i know what it does, i've heard of the timing chain, but i have no idea of where the plenum is located.

I might have to hold off for them until i can save up some money. Being a college student, taking summer classes, and working part time doesn't leaving me with much cash leftover.

The plenum is the gasket between the lifter valley and the intake manifold, it is held onto the bottom of the intake manifold by the plenum pan.
I hadn't heard of it before joining this forum either. I actually changed my plenum gasket on my camaro and didn't know what it was, I thought it was just the intake manifold gasket.
