Hughes Group Buy
#41
OK I have to add my $0.02 into the mix.
The F1 AIR GAP KIT Hughes Engines manufactured by Edelbrock retails for lets call it $650.00 with shipping and needed fluids to do the job.
If they sell 10 at $600 they are making $6,000. Now with this "deal" if that is what you want to call it, at $525.00 x 10 they make $5,250??
Now I know Hughes has to cut Mr. Victor Edelbrock, Jr in if it was say a 25% cut that still gives Hughes $3,937.50.
Now I know there is the Tax man, all the people working for them, and materials but really?
I am all for a group buy but I say we go to Edelbrock and see what price they come down to. I have sent many emails to Edelbrock sales reps. I also found Victor's company email -- got to love the internet. I will let you know if they'll come down on the price.

I kinda figured that would be the case. I've never known of a contract manufacturing deal that was otherwise.
If someone wanted to be a cheapass, adding a few vacuum ports and welding injector bungs onto an Edelbrock Performer RPM would be the same thing. Paying labor to do it would probably cost more, but one who could do it all himself might save a few bucks.

Cheaper, yeah, but at the cost of throwing the low end of the powerband away. Which kinda sucks if you're using your truck as a truck and need to get it rolling with a load in the bed or in tow.

98Dak408 you ever get that intake working with dual throttle bodies?
