'96 ram 1500 4x4 brake shudder
looking for a little advice here guys to a problem that has me completely perplexed.i did a complete brake job on the beast last month.the whole 9 yards new discs pads calipers shoes and drums.took the truck for a test drive everything seemed fine.went for a ride the following weekend and everytime i braked i got a horrible shudder from the front end.so i said ok,bad rotors.had a good used set here and got them turned plus i bought a better qaulity set of pads.put it all back together and got the same results.just looking for a little input before i pull brakes off for the third time.i had no shudder at all before i did the brake job.
thanks

I know you said it was coming from the front end, but do us a favor and apply the parking/emergency brake while driving just to eliminate the rear brakes from the equation. If all is smooth there I would look at how well the quality of the rotor to hub fitment is.
I turn drums/rotors as a matter of course. Yes, even new ones. Even if I only take off a couple thousandths.... just to make sure I have a good surface. More often than not, they are indeed warped a bit.
Did you replace your rear brake hardware as well? Have you looked in there to see that something didnt fall off?
On mine, I had MAJOR brake shudder, but, my rear shoes were down to the rivets..... don't think that is your problem....

cheers.
I had a pretty bad pulsing/shudder while braking and it didn't go away until I got new tires.
But since it didn't start until after you replaced everything then I would think that either you still have a little air in the lines or you might have gotten some brake fluid on the rotors and it contaminated the front pads.

if your tires are worn down your abs module will try to compensate for that. if the calipers are from advance they could be garbage, i know mine are. if rear shoes are worn or out of adjustment they will cause truck to shudder... these trucks are split almost 50/50 between front and rear
