Default Weekend project progress (Pics): 1.7, Plenum, Distributor clamp!!!

Well, here is my progress. First off, does this distributor clamp look like it is on correctly? I had to do it by feel because I put my intake back on before putting it back when I mistakenly took it off. It does not look like it can go in any other spot.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT GOES IN THAT BARE BOLT HOLE?

Anyways, here is the progress:

Still need to:
1. Take off the intake and check everything because i was a moron
2. Torque RRs to specs
3. Change oil (Add break in additive to oil)
4. Replace rad hoses, flush system, replace coolant.

The thing that does not make me feel very good is that rear intake gasket. The small black one. I had RTV stuck in the hole that the gasket needs to line up, and it was not sitting flush. I tried to get as much RTV as possible out (Used a very small drill bit at low speed). But it still was not perfect.

Should I just use a generous amount of RTV for that rear portion?

"Isn't this the same moron that set his truck on fire?" Words of my wife When taking this pic.

Enjoy this, i have to go out with the wife. I did nothing today but put on the RRs. Spend all day with the wife and kids.

I will not be done until monday. i still need to get my tunes from hemifever.

Yeah, i plan on doing that. Mainly because i am going to really have to memorize the procedure prior to uploading the tune. But yeah, the comparison is icing on the cake.

Clamp is fine.
LoL, You look like a gremlin perched up on the engine.

Using only RTV for the rubber gaskets is acceptable, but you need to give it a full days cure IMO, to be sure it doesn't leak. If you have a mechanics mirror you can check back there with a flashlight to see if it seed properly.

You don't need a break in additive in the oil. That was for the old days of flat tappet lifters. Take the additive back and get your money back.

You sure about that man? I have a recently purchased set waiting here for an install and it came with an "Installation Warning". It reads:

We highly recommend soaking these rocker arms over night in break in oil that contains zinc prior to installation, and the use of zinc break in oil or a high quality zinc additive such as Mondello's Zinc Tech for the firs 500-1000 miles of use. Most synthetic oilsand On Road petroleum based oils do not contain any zinc.

Failure to do this may cause premature wear that is not covered by ur warranty.

A Capt. doing work? Never thought id see the day haha. Looks good boss, your going to love the RR. Adding the tune is no sweat, literally just turn the key select program and turn the key as the tuner says, within a min. your tune is uploaded. IMHO, id go and grab 93 right away instead of putting tune on then going for gas.

I had the same thought. We got us an anomalous officer here, one who could have been enlisted if he'd been born into better circumstances.

Haha, i feel like i put foot in mouth with that comment though. Im training to be a LT. Haha, but still it seems hard to find an officer that gets dirty.
