Default Hemifever SCT tune on my weekend project!!!

Ok,

Hemifever emailed me three tunes.
87 octane
91 octane
93 octane

I ran the 91 octane tune because that is what was in there. BIG difference. It runs a lot smoother and revs faster. ALso, When I get to a hill, it does not completely bog if I do not apply constant pressure to the gas pedal. It slows down a bit, but it has a lot more a$$ to get up the hill. Great tunes. I really want to get some headers and a wideband AF gauge so i can get a custom tune (plus the headers will accentuate any other tune). I am very pleased. The truck is a completely new truck now. I am very glad I worked with Hemifever. If you want a tune and your truck can use a SCT (1998-2001) I HIGHLY recommend it.

Gas situation:
I buy gas at valero, and they only have 91 octane. I will need to see if I can find a station that sells 93 octane somewhere. Then I will run the 93 tune and report back. Hemifever said that the 93 tune is a lot better than the 91. When i had the Mopar PCM that called for at least 92 octane. I knew what every gas station in town sold. When i got the stock 2001, I just got 87 octane and didn't care.

Maybe he will send me a 92 octane tune. I have half a tank of 91 in there now, so I can put in half a tank of 93 and be good :P

ALSO: I just stopped at a PURE gas station today in my Government vehicle. Instead of 87/89/91 octane they had three choices of 87 octane
10% ethanol (Regular)
5% ethanol (plus)
0% ethanol (Super)

Something like that can merit its own thread!!

I haven't been trying to break em loose. I mash the pedal at 35 MPH, but no spinning tires. Chirps shifting into second though, like a nice pick in the pants. Pretty good for an auto.

But a really good thing is that the engine IDLES much smoother. It was not bad before, but it is smooth as silk now.

he said that the 87 octane has the torque management removed. i would assume that all 3 tunes have them taken out. I think he just mentioned that about the 87 octane just because normally he doesn't do it for that specific tune.

yes, now that you mention it, I am slammed in my seat for a longer period and the engine revs a lot faster. WOT is scary on my truck now. And that is only the canned tune.

I want to get a wideband AF gauge and some headers to get a custom tune. Hemifever said that the wideband will give you an AF reading at WOT, and that is necessary for a good custom tune.

I was thinking some new heads as well, but the truck is so good now, that i don't think I really need any more power for a while. Next upgrades will be shocks and brake rotors in february 2011. Possibly do some POR 15 on the underside before I move to Indiana in april of next year. But I really want to get Ziebart. too bad it is so damn expensive.

Welcome to the world of SCT man. Id never give up mine, and you now know why hehe. Be careful when driving in rain now, when I first put on my tunes I did 180s all over the place from not being used to the difference. But, i can do controlled powerslides all over the place now
