E fan info
I get asked about my fans a lot so thought I'd do a little write up on the switching and install process.
I'm sorry I don't have pictures of the whole process.
1. you need to remove your rad. You could probably do the change in the truck but being out makes it easier
2. measure the finned area of the rad. You wanna go from the metal bar to metal bar but on the inside edge. (I hope that makes sense) You need to do this to know what size fans you will need. i was told 2 16" fans would work but after getting them 2 16's were too big. I have a 16" and a 14" on mine.

3. Order your fans i have the Proform fans from summit
16" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-67016/ ($65.95)
14" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-67014/ ($65.95)
Relay kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-890014/ ($71.95) I used this kit due to the temp sensor being better then the probe you stick in the fins of the rad. Either way you need a relay kit of some kind. If you use this kit you will need a hole in the intake to put the sensor. I had my air gap drilled and tapped for it.
4. Mount your fans. The fans come with locking ties. They are like zip ties that you push through the rad and secure with another piece. Be careful cause you can bust up the fins if your not.

5. Re-install your rad
6. Wire up your relays. I made a bracket to mount my relays off of the rad. I have 2 relays for 2 fans. Each relay holder comes pre wired. The instruction are pretty basic but It's pretty simple. Each relay base has a Purple, Gray, Yellow, and Red wire. The purple goes to the hot wire on the fan (The one goes to the one fan the other goes to the other) The gay goes to the temp sensor. The sensor has a single wire off it so the 2 relay wires get connected together and attached to it. The huge red wires get fused (both wires get a fuse) and get connected to the + of the battery. The yellow wire goes to and ignition source or key on source.
I thought I had pics of the relays but I guess I don't If you guys would like to see how I mounted them let me know I'll try to get a pic
Here is a pic of the temp sensor. Because of where I had it mounted I had to drill out a hole in my AC bracket to make it fit. This wasn't planed but **** happens and you adapt

Now for the questions. I have not had any cooling problems EXCEPT when I was stuck in the field. Normal driving its fine. The sensor is non adjustable and kicks the fans on at 180. I have never seen my temp guage touch the 210. There is actually always some space between it. It's starting to get hot here so I'll see how it does on close to 100 degree days but I expect it to be fine. Like I said only time i have ever gotten way hot probably close to overheating was when I was stuck. I didn't really give the system time to cool down so I can't blame the fans on that. It was driver error
Everybody always asks about my overflow and washer tanks. I ditched the stocks tanks (honestly cause they looked like ****) I found Moe's sells a kit that does away with the shroud and takes. However its for like 03 and up and is pretty expensive just for a couple little tanks. I got my 2 used for $200

I actually did a write up on installing these a while back not sure if you can still find it on here or not. All I did was drilled a couple holes in 2 pieces of flat aluminum bar and mounted them in holes that were already in the rad. I have the older style tanks cause my washer tank doesn't have a hole for the low washers sensor. The stock pump it fin in the one I have and there's no leaks. According to Moe's there are 2 different grommets not sure which one I have.
I hope this helps you guys with the question out. If you need anymore help or have more questions I'll be happy to help ya's

Looks nice and neat and looks like it frees a heck of alot of room under there, Good job! Easier to work on now? What did your engine temp get to when you got stuck? Were the fans kicked on full blast?
Oh yea, Do they make one big fan that would cover the whole rad? Thats how id probly want mine.
Thanks for the writeup!

Relieves the engine of the need to spin that fan 100% of the time. Sure, there is a thermostatic coupling there.... but, that doesn't really help all that much. I have seen folks pick up 2-3 MPG just by doing this mod.
On an engine as large as a 318, I highly doubt that. With all the modifications I've heard of and done, my truck should be getting over 30mpg.

Dodgepwr- I honestly don't remember exactly. I think it was close to being pegged. I was so worried about getting unstuck I wasn't paying attention to if they were running or not. Not sure on 1 giant fan. I don't really think it's possible to get the Rad coverage out of just one fan
Less strain on the motor, more hp, and people say they have a difference in mpg

A Lincoln Mark VIII fan will do it by itself, but the amp draw is about 35 amps. Might need to invest in a beefed up alternator.
A word to the warning if you run underdrive pulleys with electric fans: You will undercharge and drain the battery at idle. I had to have hemifever up my idle from ~700rpms to 816rpms to get the alt put out enough amperage. I didn't want to kill the battery if I ever got stuck in traffic.
