Wow what a waste......
You don't have to replace them... just turn them a couple of degrees.
Get the airflow over their cripled little wings JUST RIGHT and the drag on the front end should go down about 5-7%
You'll only get the extra HP if you position them to channel the airflow toward a CAI........ That is if you gave in to peer pressure and installed this un-needed part.

I tried that a while back, actually, but after the third one fell off my wife told me I couldn't take the grandkids out on the hood of the truck any more.

lol its funny to hear what all yal wrote. i understand preventive maint. but unless its like the plenum, who says my water pump will go out cuz urs did? yea it might but maybe not for another 50k. i understand doing mods, thats cool. but replacing a pump or something just cuz? seems like a waste cuz you dont know when its really gonna go out.instead you could take that money and use it towards a mod.

and its funny the people who wrote back and tryin to sound all tough or something, for instance "the guy who said to shut up and listen and i might learn something?" wtf guys...

anyway, thanks for the replying from people who are not dicks. but just figured id ask, maybe you guys will think bout mods now instead of rebuilding ur engine that aint bad.

Dick that I am, I think I'll go replace the wrist pin on the #6 piston, three random pushrods, and a couple of perfectly good muffler clamps. I figure that'll be good for 93 horsepower and 112 lb/ft of torque, not to mention 17 miles per gallon.

Then I'm-a goin' over to Ryan's house so he can set me straight.

Oh and better mileage is another thing we try to achieve when we change stuff out on our trucks.

Experience is the key here, The knowledge of many helps the rest of us along the way in getting our rides into shape.

Any car forum is going to have people wrenching just for shi-ats and giggles. Come to the air-cooled VW Forum and see what kinds of threads are in the Performance forum.

Honestly, drop the text speak if you want to be taken seriously. Every time I read some post with "ur" that isn't referring to an ancient Mesopotamian city makes me cringe. I doubt you're being charged by the letter, and words matter. Much like your personal appearance matters when people size you up in real life, the same holds true with how one writes on Teh Interweb Thingy.

don't forget......Because you/we/they CAN. Also, sometimes it makes sense to part X if your in the area while replacing part Y if it was a royal pain to get there. Especially if there are high miles on the truck.

This might be a bad example, but if you have 160K and your replacing a timing chain, you might as well replace the water pump seeing as it's one of those "gonna fail at some point" parts.

This is the first you mentioned something specific.
So no I wouldn't replace my water pump because someone said they did. And Yes there is some random part replacement stuff that goes on here like ABS sensors TPS etc....
However when replaceing for example a front axle universal joint, I would replace the upper and lower Ball joint as well. cause I don't feel like ripping it apart again after 20k.
